City charity gives October’s award to breast cancer support group

A SUPPORT network for people with breast cancer has been awarded £2,000 by local charity LoveBrum.

Breast Friends is a support group based at Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield that is run by volunteers who have all been diagnosed with breast cancer. The group aims to help women through a difficult time by offering them friendship, emotional support, and practical help from the time of diagnosis and beyond.

It also seeks to raise awareness of breast cancer within the community so that people can seek diagnosis and treatments at as early a stage as possible.

It will use the funding to help support the ladies through practical help, including help with childcare, door to door laundry service, gardening, and helping to deal with hair loss.
