Aga blames market conditions for need to cut 63 jobs

MANUFACTURER Aga Rangemaster, famed for its cookers, plans to cut 63 jobs in Telford as it continues to feel the heat.
The Warwickshire-based group made a £20.3m loss in the year to January 2 and it has blamed “current market conditions” for the need to consider redundancies.
The job cuts will affect staff at its head office and assembly plant in Ketley and at its foundry in Coalbrookdale.
The company said: “Aga Rangemaster Ltd is implementing a number of organisational changes that impact its Aga operation at Telford.
“These changes are linked to current market conditions. Unfortunately the impact of these changes is that the company has placed the roles of 63 employees at risk of redundancy.
“The company is consulting with the staff and union representatives to minimise any potential compulsory redundancies wherever possible.”
Aga Rangemaster was bought for £129m by American cookery equipment group The Middleby Corporation in July 2015.
