Logistics company busy delivering Christmas on a pallet

THE festive season has been good to one logistics business in the West Midlands – which has been delivering Christmas on a pallet.

Coventry-based Pooling Partners has spent the past two months delivering turkey, sprouts, parsnips, potatoes, mince pies, beers, soft drinks, snacks and crisps in their millions to customers around the country from suppliers including Bernard Matthews turkeys, Golden Wonder crisps and Nivea beauty gift sets.

Cranberries, sultanas, crackers and an array of party foods, as well as Christmas wrapping and packaging materials have all made their way through the supply chain during the festive period.

The company, based in Meriden Business Park, has even delivered grit to Tarmac Building Products to keep the country moving in freezing conditions.

It will be looking to top the 1.2bn pallet miles carried out last year.

Pooling Partners, Europe’s biggest manufacturer and pooler of wooden pallets for the supply chain, works for brand giants including Swizzels, Bath Ales and Tayto Golden Wonder,

Phil Storer, UK director for Pooling Partners, said: “We move everything from turkey, mince pies, crisps, snacks, beer and Nivea gift sets. We even deliver rock salts for the road for Tarmac Building Products and the Christmas Poinsettia plants, so we are well versed in delivering Christmas and all the trimmings.”

The festive period builds on a successful year for the firm – for example, it delivered a bumper Hallowe’en thanks to working with brands such as confectioner Swizzels.
