Gareth Burge

Gareth is a director in the corporate and commercial team. He joined Thursfields in 2014 from the London office of Watson, Farley & Williams, a leading international law firm. He was admitted as a solicitor in 2005.

Gareth’s practice covers a broad range of corporate and commercial work including mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances (including joint venture arrangements, investment agreements, shareholders’ agreements and partnership agreements), equity fundraisings, private equity, venture capital, corporate reorganisations and commercial transactions.

Thursfields’ corporate and commercial team is described in the Legal 500 2017 edition as “having a fantastic reputation for delivering commercial, honest and technically relevant advice.” Gareth is recommended as being “very commercially astute and doesn’t hesitate to grasp and solve difficult issues promptly and efficiently.”

In 2018, Thursfields’ corporate and commercial team consolidated its position as a leading adviser in the West Midlands market. Its strengthening relationships with accountants, tax advisers and corporate finance advisers saw an influx of instructions, including complex M&A deals, private equity investments, joint ventures and corporate reorganisations.

The team also continued to develop its expertise in the healthcare and events sectors. In the healthcare sector, our team is sought after for its experience in advising on the sale of care homes, veterinary practices and dental laboratories.

In the events sector, Thursfields won instructions from two of the UK’s leading events agencies  – DRP and Top Banana Communications – and was appointed as corporate counsel to Freemans Event Partners, the UK’s leading supplier of catering, bars and other services to events.
