Coe wins Korean rail contract

YORKSHIRE group Coe has won a major contract to provide video surveillance systems for the Seoul underground railway lines in Korea.

The Leeds-based group, the AIM quoted developer and supplier of advanced video surveillance systems, said that the contract is worth more than £1m and will see it integrating “analogue and IP technologies into a hybrid solution providing a high capacity optically multiplexed analogue backbone for real-time monitoring of all video, automated camera tracking to enhance operator effectiveness and a sophisticated video management system for operating and maintaining the surveillance network”.

Coe said that it will fit and run the system through its partner Dong Young Information Communication Co in the next three months and it will be completed by December next year.

Each station will operate between 64 and 128 cameras and with 67 stations across the three lines the COE management system will be responsible for the control of up to 8,000 cameras.

Commenting on the award, COE’s chief executive Ian Jefferson said “This is a significant contract for us and the award demonstrates the strong position that COE holds within the rail sector and that customers value the flexibility and rail-proven nature of the products which can seemlessly deliver analogue, digital and IP video transmission and management within a single platform”.

Coe supplies CCTV to monitor traffic on the streets of London, the Singapore rail network, the Martignano Tunnel in Italy and rail systems in Holland, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
