Search on for new CEO of economic development body

THE organisation leading the economic development of Sheffield is looking for a new chief executive.

Ian Bromley joined Creativesheffield, the city’s economic development company in 2006 and oversaw the development and delivery of the Economic Masterplan.

The organisation will launch the search for a new chief executive in the near future with the responsibilities taken up by Creativesheffield’s senior management team until a successor is appointed.

Mr Bromley is returning to his native Canada to concentrate on his role as chairman of the International Economic Development Council.

Sir Peter Middleton chairman of Creativesheffield said: “The board of Creativesheffield thanks Ian Bromley for his excellent service and he leaves with its best wishes.

Ian has made a significant contribution to Sheffield’s economic transformation. He brought considerable international experience to the city and his work on the

preparation of the city’s Economic Masterplan has been outstanding. He has set a clear path for further transformation of Sheffield’s economy.”

John Mothersole, Sheffield City Council’s chief rxecutive said: “We would like to thank Ian for his contribution over the past three years. His departure comes at a time when we are focusing on how to deliver the Economic Masterplan into a reality and a successor will be appointed in line with the ongoing needs and objectives of the organisation.”

Mr Bromley said: “I came to Sheffield to take on a big challenge.  I am proud that in my time here we have launched the Economic Masterplan; developed a new City Centre Masterplan and created one of the best economic development organizations in the UK.  Having met those challenges it is now time to return with my family to Canada knowing that Creativesheffield will continue to drive the economic transformation of this great city.”
