EY celebrates five years of helping electronics firms

EY, the not-for-profit organisation created to support and promote the growth of the electronics industry, is celebrating five years of helping the region’s electronic firms.
EY, which recently changed its name from Electronics Yorkshire, can boast a number of significant achievements since its creation including creating a network membership of more than 600 businesses.
The organisation is also one of only three UK bodies accredited by the IPC – the international quality assurance and training organisation for the industry.
Since opening its training centre in Leeds in 2004, EY has tutored more than 2,000 students on a range of disciplines and worked with more than 720 firms.
Its award-winning educational outreach programme – an initiative designed to stimulate interest and awareness in electronic – has given more than 1,000 pupils practical electronic skills experience through its mobile training unit.
Peter Brooks, chief executive of EY, said: “We are delighted with the impact we’ve made in the last five years.
“Our reputation for delivering industry-specific training and technical support is second to none and has been growing steadily since we launched in 2004.”
Last month, EY announced its was to extend its membership to firms across the UK.
EY is part funded by regional development agency Yorkshire Forward and European Union ERDF.
