Italian job for Jet2

MORE THAN 30 delegates from Sardinia visited Yorkshire to celebrate the launch of low cost airline Jet2's new service from Leeds-Bradford International Airport to the Italian island.
Antonio Pizzadili, president of Olbia City Council in Sardinia, and two chefs from the island were among the guests at the event, which was held at Bibis Italian Restaurant in Leeds.
The Sardinian chefs prepared a food and drink tasting menu for the dignitaries, who also included the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Brian Cleasby, and senior Jet2 representatives.
The new weekly service from the Yorkshire airport will start on May 3.
Ian Doubtfire, managing director at Jet2, which is based at Leeds Bradford, said: “The support we have received from President Antonio Pizzadili and other Sardinian dignitaries including the Mayor, has helped enormously in us being able to start this fantastic new route to Olbia this summer.
“The island is a wonderful tourist destination abundant with culture, fantastic scenery and an envious climate – we are sure this will be a hugely popular route for us from Leeds Bradford.”
Jet2 is launching eight new destinations from Leeds Bradford this summer, including services to Hamburg, Madrid, Paphos in Cyprus, and Jersey.
