Mumtaz launches new take-away concept

MUMTAZ has expanded its food empire with the launch of a new take-away concept – Jaldi Jaldi.

The West Yorkshire-based business opened its first Jaldi Jaldi, which means quickly quickly, with family friend and Dragon’s Den dragon James Caan officially unveiling the new Bradford venture alongside Mumtaz chairman Mumtaz Khan.

All Jaldi Jaldi dishes will be prepared daily and delivered from Mumtaz’s own specialised £3m food production centre based in Mytholmroyd.

The centre currently produces the company’s range of meals and products, which are stocked by national supermarket chains such as Asda, Sainsbury, Tesco and the Co-op across the UK.

Customers will have a choice of meat and vegetarian curries, a range of popular starters, sandwiches, wraps, side dishes, drinks and the famous Mumtaz Lassi.

Also available will be a range of exclusive home dining dishes that customers can take home to enjoy later.

Commercial director Bill Kimberling, said: “These are exciting times for the Mumtaz brand and our Jaldi Jaldi outlets. We have signed a further 20 outlets for the UK, five of which should be open by January 2010 and the rest will follow.

“The Jaldi Jaldi concept with its own unique branding and style will revolutionise the way people see and enjoy a takeaway Indian meal. It is perfect for anyone who wants a fast, good quality meal at an affordable price.”

Mumtaz Food Industries was set up in 1978 by Mr Khan and has grown from a small take-away on Great Horton Road into a multi million pound international industry.

It employs more than 100 people and supplies customers around 20 countries as well as exclusive retailers such as Harrods and Fortnum & Mason.
