Sale of Lindley Pate assets

THE assets of a century old agricultural and equine supplies business are up for sale after it was forced to call in the liquidators.
Lindley Pate, which is based at Gisburn, on the Yorkshire – Lancashire border, and had a turnover of £2.8m, is being placed into a Creditors’ voluntary liquidation.
The original business was established in 1912 and has been an Ifor Williams dealership for more than 30 years. The seven staff employed by Lindley Pate have all been dismissed.
Frances Henshaw, corporate recovery and insolvency senior manager at Beever and Struthers and is advising the directors, said the company ceased trading because of increased local competition and the recession – sales of commercial and domestic trailers had dropped by between 30% and 40%
A liquidator for the business is due to be appointed at a creditors’ meeting this Friday.
Ms Henshaw said: “The demise of a business that has been trading for almost 100 years and the consequent loss of jobs is indeed sad news.
“We’re proactively inviting buyers for its assets to come forward but in the event of sales not being agreed, the assets could be sold at auction.”
