Move into eco-build pays off for construction firm

A DECISION by Harrogate-based construction firm LaRock to diversify into ‘green build’ has already paid off with the completion of an innovative eco-build project.

LaRock provided a £1m turn-key eco-build solution for a design, build and project management contract for North Yorkshire independent school Cundall Manor.

The brief was to add shower blocks, amenities and 14 classrooms to the hunting lodge style school, which was originally built in 1886.

A bespoke system eliminating the need to the buildings to be reliant on gas, oil or solid fuel has been installed, which will also heat the underfloor heating systems and provide hot water for the showers.

The building s are low, cedar clad and constructed out of a unique system using highly insulating materials.

Damian Lawrance, managing director of LaRock Construction, said: The green agenda is something all construction companies need to be aware about.

“We are proactively seeking out new methods to present to clients in the form of eco-solutions. It is a successful area of growth within LaRock and we are delighted with the results.”
