Weekender: The Dark Horse gallops into York

There’s a new horse in the city – and it’s not one you’ll need to visit the racecourse to see.

The Dark Horse Espresso Bar, inspired by Aussie influences, has recently set up shop in the revived Shambles Market food quarter.

The venture offers a variety of vegan and healthy items, including spinach wraps filled with taboulleh, salad and houmous, and homemade banana bread.

Laura Edwards, owner of the Dark Horse Espresso Bar, has spent the past decade living in Australia and says she is determined to make an impact on the local food and drink scene.

She said: “I want to bring my passion and love of coffee along with the experiences and the foods that I left behind in Sydney to the people of York.”
