East Yorkshire hotel and restaurant expands with six-figure investment

East Yorkshire restaurant and hotel The Peppered Pig has expanded its premises with the support of a six-figure funding package from HSBC UK.

The restaurant, owned by the Mitchell family, has redeveloped its rural site to allow for extensive building renovation.

HSBC UK funding has supported the development of an extended dining space, a refurbished function room and six new ensuite rooms.

The Peppered Pig is a British Inn situated near the market town of Snaith, with a restaurant, guest rooms and in-house delicatessen.

Also operating from the site is Turnbridge Day Nursery, one of the largest childcare facilities in the area.

Development across the site has enabled the nursery to integrate three separate buildings under one roof.

The refurbishment is expected to create 10 new jobs and increase turnover by 50% over the next financial year.

Glen Mitchell, co-owner of The Peppered Pig, said: “We provide a unique service for our customers across the region and beyond. The local community is always very supportive of our endeavours, whether that is offering a fine dining experience or childcare services.

“It has been really pleasing to become known as destination hotel and restaurant which attracts people to the local area.”

Neil Waterhouse, senior business manager for HSBC UK, added: “It’s fantastic to see the individuality of The Peppered Pig rewarded with growth.

“We have been delighted to support the Mitchell family business for a number of years now and we’re pleased they continue to develop a high quality experience for all their customers.”
