Recycling deal gives clear sustainability vision for glass maker

Core Facility Services has secured a new waste and recycling contract with Dual Seal Glass to drive sustainability at the manufacturer’s Huddersfield site.

Core and Dual Seal are both independent family businesses which have been operating in Huddersfield since the 1990s.

Dual Seal is a glass specialist and produces noise insulating and low emissivity glass units for the construction industry at its 100,000 sq ft site on Leeds Road, where it employs 135 people.

Simon Knapper of Dual Seal said the move would support the firm’s own sustainability goals as well as those of its commercial clients.

He said: “Our focus has always been to develop products that support the rigorous environmental compliance in the construction sector, with low emissivity and solar control glass reducing the amount of energy used for heating and cooling buildings.

“We are looking forward to working with Core to keep the environmental impact of our own business activities to a minimum and further enhance our position in a sustainable supply chain.

“Core’s understanding of waste, energy and sustainability means we are on the same wavelength and the waste solution they have developed supports our environmental strategy as well as saving us money.”

Rebecca Hextall of Core Facility Services said: “Dual Seal shares many of our values, both environmentally and in terms of customer service and an emphasis on investment in people, training and processes.

“With improved segregation of metal, card and plastic waste, we have been able to boost recycling levels and reduce costs, leaving more money for investment in the business.

“Going forward our role will be to manage suppliers, keep services under constant review and take care of all compliance issues on their behalf.”
