Electric cargo bike launch aims to revolutionise last mile deliveries

Sheffield-based BB-EV (Busy Bee EV Ltd) has launched its new e-cargo bikes to meet the growing demand for sustainable urban transportation.
It explains the e-cargo bike is designed for use in all weathers, offers a range of interchangeable cargo pod options, provides a sustainable, eco-friendly solution for last-mile deliveries and is tailored for large-scale B2B customers such as couriers, parcel services and large retailers.
Paul Farrell, founder of BB-EV and a 25-year veteran of the Asian-based high-performance sports composites industry, said: “The race to achieve net-zero cargo emissions across the global transport and logistics sector has never been so urgent.
“After extensive discussions with global commercial B2B fleet logistics operators, we believe BB-EV represents a total last-mile delivery solution ‘system’ that meets the real-world needs of many operators and compliments their existing infrastructure.
“We are thrilled to bring BB-EV e-cargo bikes to the market. We believe our innovative, eco-friendly solutions are set to transform last-mile delivery, providing businesses with a reliable, efficient and sustainable option.”
BB-EV is collaborating with professional tools and equipment brand STIHL, for its product’s official launch.
Simon Hewitt, head of marketing at STIHL GB, said: “Partnering with BB-EV for the launch of their innovative e-cargo bike is certainly something we’re excited about.
“As a brand dedicated to high-quality landscaping tools, we see this collaboration as an exciting step forward in transforming last-mile delivery solutions.
“BB-EV’s cutting-edge design aligns perfectly with our commitment to efficiency and battery-powered technology, and we believe this partnership is the first step to setting new standards for urban landscaping.”
The BB-EV has been developed by British engineers following extensive discussions with current users of commercial e-cargo bikes to better understand their commercial and maintenance requirements.
The bikes are fully end-of-life recyclable. They all have an onboard electronic monitoring and reporting system which allows users to locate and monitor the location of every bike in real time.
Safety and comfort are prioritised with features such as a driver cabin safety cell, adjustable ergonomic driver seat with seat belt, lights, four surround proximity detectors, rear reversing camera and a large LCD visual display screen.
