CNP appointed to lead Halifax scheme

THE Leeds-based projects division of national building and project consultants CNP has been appointed to handle the management for the £50m regeneration of a major part of Halifax's town centre.

The development on Broad Street in Halifax will include a 26,000 sq ft bowling alley, a nine screen cinema, a 25,000 sq ft first floor bingo hall, 77,000 sq ft of retail units, 106 apartments and a 429 space multi-storey car park.

The appointment, by developer Miller Gregory, means that in the past year the team has been appointed on projects with an end value of more than £200m.

Chris Booth, director of the Leeds office of CNP, said: “It has been a fantastic year for the projects team and this latest appointment is testament to that success.

“Given the current financial climate, efficient and effective project management has become all the more important and at least part of the growth was down to our ability to react to the changing marketplace in the second half of 2007 and capitalise on this.

“The growth in both the projects team and other specialist areas of the business such as our environmental services, has produced considerable cross-fertilisation with other specialist disciplines and underlines our reputation as one of the area's leading one stop shops for property professionals.”

CNP also expanded into Europe last year, a move which attracted the attention of Land America and eventually resulted in the British firm's sale to the American property giant.
