The Grand prepares for grand opening

YORK’S first five star hotel is preparing to open its doors to corporate delegates by offering a special introductory rate.

Backed by £20m worth of investment and situated in York’s grade two-listed former railway headquarters, facilities at Cedar Court Grand Hotel & Spa will include five meeting rooms able to accommodate up to 20 people, a space for up to 40 which was once the chairman’s office, and the boardroom, a wood-panelled room capable of hosting 120 guests.

Cedar Court Grand Hotel & Spa believes its opening on April 26 will transform the day meetings and residential conference market in York.

The hotel is offering a special introductory rate for a limited time only, with delegates able to book to stay at The Grand for £99 for a double or twin room.

A decking area on a specially designed terrace overlooking the city wall can also accommodate a marquee for 250 guests which, along with a cocktail bar, restaurant and private dining rooms, will provide a choice of areas for business people.

Andrew Coney, The Grand’s general manager, said: “A great deal of passion, energy and imagination has gone into creating The Grand, but the most important moment will come when we welcome the first delegates through the doors. York is Britain’s seventh most popular business tourism destination, yet it doesn’t have a five-star hotel.

“So, when Cedar Court Grand opens in just a few weeks time, it will offer a whole new experience for business visitors to the city.

“Event organisers will have access to their own PA, who’ll be on hand for the duration of their stay to assist with whatever they need, and an e-butler will ensure trouble free IT. It’s these personal and intimate services that will make it a five-star experience.”

A designated corporate business team will also be on hand to provide help before, during and after the event.
