Klinger seals Acorn deal

KLINGER is looking to more than quadruple its share of the hydraulic seals market over the next four years with the acquisition of manufacturing firm Acorn Seals.
The deal will see the creation of a Klinger distribution and customer service operation in Grangemouth, Scotland, serving the offshore oil industry.
The acquisition is set to increase Bradford-based Klinger’s £2m turnover hydraulic seals division to £10m by 2015.
Klinger UK managing director Alan Bates, said: “Acorn Seals has built a substantial distribution business across the UK and adds tremendous knowledge and experience to our operation, particularly in offshore installations. Our aim is to at least quadruple our existing hydraulic seals business over the next four years.”
Fife-based Acorn’s team of 25 engineering and production staff have transferred to Klinger and more recruitment is planned.
David Brealey, product manager for hydraulic seals at Acorn, said: “Klinger’s investment in the latest design and manufacturing technology for hydraulic seals, gives our customers across the UK and Europe real added value.
“The company has long been recognised as an innovative product developer and quality manufacturer in the UK and we’re delighted to be joining the team.”
