News in Brief: Rhubarb garden gets just desserts; Audiences Yorkshire re-brands; and more

WELCOME to Yorkshire’s rhubarb crumble and custard garden was the cream of the crop at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show after being awarded a silver medal.

The courtyard garden celebrates the best in Yorkshire produce and craftmanship and is a quirky take on the classic dish, inspired by Yorkshire’s own rhubarb triangle, featuring an overflowing bowl of rhubarb crumble and custard and a giant wooden spoon.

Chief executive Gary Verity said: “This garden celebrates everything that is great about Yorkshire. It is a real slice of what Yorkshire has to offer visitors; it has quality and iconic craftmanship, world renowned food, stunning scenery and of course, a dollop of our wonderful humour. We’re absolutely delighted that we will be bringing the garden and the silver medal back to Yorkshire with us.”

The garden, which also received a royal visit from the Queen, will make a triumphant return to Yorkshire at the Great Yorkshire Show in July before taking up permanent residence at RHS Harlow Carr, Harrogate.
