Conferences boost for South Yorkshire
THE Sheffield City Region is looking forward to welcoming events generating more than £2m in revenue this year.
Events already secured include the Global Manufacturing Festival, the National Union of Students national conference and the British Association for Ophthalmic Pathology,
The city is also set to return this year to the conferencing exhibition International Confex.
Gemma Tissington, Business Tourism Manager, for Sheffield Convention Bureau at Marketing Sheffield, said: “Despite challenging economic times the Sheffield city region is proving itself time and time again as the destination of choice for a wide range of national and international conferences and events.
“A large proportion of the conferences secured for 2012 will be hosted by venues exhibiting with us at this year’s International Confex. Here we plan to showcase the region and secure even more business for 2012 and beyond.”
Other events on the calendar for 2012 include the Fitness Industry Association Conference and Awards Ceremony and the Society of British Neurological Surgeons Conference.
