HALIFAX has got its first champagne bar and ‘hot-rock’ cooking restaurant.

Design House in Town, has launched in Lord Street, offers a choice of 24 types of champagne.

The ‘hot-rock’ cooking experience sees diners able to cook their own food at their tables over heated volcanic rocks.

Lee Marshall, Design House in Town’s owner, said: “More and more people are looking for a touch of luxury on nights out, which is something we wanted to capture at Design House in Town, but still maintain a relaxed atmosphere.”

BUSINESS centre Shine has officially launched an on-site cafe.

A £20,000 investment has been made in the cafe at the venue in Harehills, Leeds.

Todd Hanula, chief executive of Shine, which offers facilities including office space and conference and meeting rooms, said the venue had been busy since its launch.

Mr Hanula said: “Training businesses are desperate for venues with great cafes, making it feasible to hold all day training sessions.”

THE team behind Stew & Oyster Calls Landing in Leeds are to open another outlet in one of the city’s suburbs.

Stew & Oyster Oakwood will open its doors on May 4. The bar and dining venue will be located in a property that formerly housed a branch of HSBC bank.

Gordon Dickinson, Stew & Oyster’s manager, said: “We’ve had great success with Stew & Oyster Calls Landing, having built a customer base of people who enjoy a laid back atmosphere and the friendliness of a real local, but in the city. 

“We get a lot of people coming out after work to the city centre bar, alongside those who live in town. With Stew & Oyster Oakwood we want to provide the same service for those who live or work in North Leeds.”

BRADFORD business venue Malik House is to convert its on-site coffee shop into a café bar.

The ‘Court Room Café Bar’ will open on Saturday and will feature regular live music, an extensive wine list and a new food menu.

Malik House was originally a £1.2m investment, incorporating serviced offices, hot-desking and conference centre.

As part of the new development, the Malik House team have added a separate bar to the conference and events centre.

EMMA Austin has launched a business called Sandwich Stack.

The 23-year-old, who lives in Long Lee, West Yorkshire, has received strong support from Bradford Council’s enterprise support programme, Kickstart.

Rav Panesar, an enterprise coach at Keighley-based Airedale Enterprise Services, supported Emma through discussions around self-employment, business planning and marketing.

Support was also provided by the Prince’s Trust, the charity established by the Prince of Wales to help enterprising young people start their own business.

Sandwich Stack offers an outdoor catering service of fresh sandwich platters for events, business meetings and lunchtime catering for professionals.”
