Gulf Finance House confirms Leeds United takeover link

INVESTMENT bank Gulf Finance House has confirmed one of its subsidiaries will “lead and arrange” the takeover of Leeds United.

The announcement follows Leeds United’s chairman Ken Bates confirmation that the club was in talks with Gulf investors.

In a brief statement, Bahrain-based GFH said its subsidiary GFH Capital has “signed an exclusive agreement to lead and arrange the acquisition of Leeds City Holdings, the parent company of LUFC.”

The statement described Leeds United as “one of the best supported clubs in English Football with a higher than average match day attendance than most Premier League teams”.

No further details over the terms or timetable for a deal were given.
