Latest Appointments: Gordons, Tracey Smith, GT Law

TWO lawyers have been promoted to partner level at Yorkshire law firm Gordons.
Corporate lawyer Jonathan Asquez and Simon Mydlowski, from the Bradford and Leeds-based firm’s commercial property department, both joined the organisation in 2005.
Paul Ayre, managing partner at Gordons, said: “Jonathan and Simon have both made outstanding contributions to our rapid growth in recent years and richly deserve their promotions. Everyone with the firm congratulates them on their good news and wishes them success in their new roles.”

TRACEY Smith, managing director of York Science Park, has been appointed to the United Kingdom Science Park Association’s board.
UKSPA is the authoritative body on the planning, development and creation of science parks.
Ms Smith said of her appointment: “Huge opportunities are opened up in being part of the national Science Park body. It is crucial to the successful development of the sector that we work together to provide a national perspective; sharing knowledge and collaborating on improvements to services, technology and access to ensure innovation-led, high-growth and knowledge-rich businesses flourish UK wide.”

GT LAW has appointed solicitor Sam Sansoya to head up its new family law division, based in Leeds.
Mr Sansoya trained at Grahame Stowe Bateson in Leeds and has worked at various Yorkshire firms including The Law Partnership, Godloves Solicitors and Taylor Bracewell Solicitors.
Legal assistant Barbara Piatek has also joined the expanding team in Leeds and both their appointments follow four recent senior recruits to the company’s new employment, immigration, conveyancing and private client divisions.
GT LAW director Gordon Tucker said: “This is yet another senior appointment to our team meaning we are now able to offer the full range of legal services not only in Leeds but also across the UK.”

YORK Housing Association has appointed Paul Atkins as director of development and property.
Mr Atkins joins from Yorkshire Housing Association where he was senior development manager and takes over from John Gilham who has retired after 28 years with York HA.
He is a former professional rugby league player with York Wasps.
Julia Histon, chief executive of York HA, said: “We are delighted that Paul has joined us and he will play a key role in the future of our Association.”
