In Brief: Optare in multi-million contract win, IoD accolade for Rok, and more

LEEDS bus and coach-building company Optare has won a £2.3m order for 19 buses from London bus operator London United, part of French transport group Transdev.

The company said it would deliver the twin door buses to London United in the last quarter of 2008.

Caisse des Depots et Consignations owns 68% of Transdev, with Parisian public transport authority RATP holding 25% and Italian banking group San Paolo IMI, through its subsidiary Finopi, owning the remaining 7%.

SHAUN Davis, director of Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) at Yorkshire builders Rok has added a diploma from the Institute of Directors (IoD) to his list of qualifications.

Already a fellow of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CFIOSH) and a Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner, he brings a wealth of knowledge in the building, maintenance and refurbishment sectors to his role of making Rok the safest place to work in the industry.

This qualification will assist him when talking to business leaders within his own company and among its suppliers.

A TEAM from executive recruitment firm Odgers has jointly won the gruelling Hannibal Marathon.

The Odgers team finished in pole position for the second consecutive year and helped to raise more than £100,000 for charity.

The four-man team, which included Simon Walton, from the Leeds office, joined with a group from the Lawn Tennis Association to retrace the footsteps of Hannibal as he crossed the Alps for an attack on Rome in the third century.

Twenty teams from companies took part in the 26.2-mile route through France, Italy and Switzerland, raising money for the Greenhouse School Project.

A YORKSHIRE print firm is celebrating five years of support for the region’s next generation of sporting talent.

Resource Print Solutions (RPS), based in Bramley, Leeds, first got involved with SportsAid Yorkshire & Humberside in 2003 and has sponsored a number of events and initiatives since then.
