Ptarmigan MD takes voluntary redundancy

PR consultancy Ptarmigan today stressed it was not planning further redundancies following the departure of its managing director.
Tina Elliott has taken voluntary redundancy after four months in the role of managing director.
The Leeds-based agency suffered a blow this year following the loss of a major account with recycling organisation WRAP which resulted in a number of redundancies at the company.
Ptarmigan’s founder and executive chairman, Gordon Forbes, said that no more redundancies were planned and that the business was continuing to attract new clients including Wakefield-based sportswear company Pro-Star.
Pro-Star joins other Ptarmigan clients including Virgin Media, Nestle, Diageo and Makro.
Mr Forbes said: “We could not continue with the same head count after the loss of a major account. Tina very nobly offered herself as she was last-in – there are not many people who would have done what she did.”
Ms Elliott joined Ptarmigan after having developed her own 45-strong consultancy, Keene Communications, in London over a 15-year period. She will not be immediately replaced.
She replaced Ptarmigan’s former managing director, Jason Madeley, who had taken a career break to go travelling.
Established 19 years ago Ptarmigan is one of the region’s major PR companies and is one of the only agencies outside of London to receive the PR Consultancy of the Year title.
