In brief: Spencer Group, RBS; Atmosphere Bars & Clubs; Bartlett & Company

SPECIALIST engineering business Spencer Group has bolstered its management team as it aims to support its ambitious growth plans.

Nick Cooper, who has designed engineering solutions for a number of iconic projects, joins the business as technical director, while Paul Gledhill, who has held board-level roles in a range of organisations, has been appointed as managing director of Hull-based Spencer Engineering.

Mr Cooper has designed engineering systems for a diverse range of high-profile projects and led multi-disciplinaryengineering design company MG Bennett and Associates for 15 years, followed by a further four years, as a result of acquisition, with leading engineering design consultancy Atkins.

He said: “I’ve joined to enhance further the company’s existing design capability to tackle and deliver challenging projects.”

Paul Gledhill has joined the Spencer Group from one of the UK’s largest Support Services companies, Carillion, where he held various operational and strategic development roles culminating in the position of operations director within the newly-acquired Carillion Energy Services business unit.

RBS Invoice Finance (RBSIF) has welcomed Andy Barraclough as head of corporate for the North and Scotland as it looks to raise the profile of its team.

Based in RBSIF’s Leeds and Manchester offices, Mr Barraclough took over the position at the start of April and the role has seen him take responsibility for the management of the regional corporate team.

He said:“I am really excited about my new position and look forward to working for a growing business area of the bank.

“We are seeing a rise in the use of ABL structures to fund organic and acquisition growth and are working closely with our banking colleagues to deliver complete funding solutions for our clients.” 

The team has also welcomed Richard Holden as assistant relationship manager for the North and Ian Magilton and Nicola Berry both as assistant relationship managers for Scotland.

ATMOSPHERE Bars and Clubs, which has a site in Halifax and one in Barnsley, has gone into administration.

Daniel Butters and Adrian Berry of business advisory firm Deloitte have been appointed  joint administrators.

Atmosphere Bar and Clubs manages an estate of 24 licensed premises across England and Wales and has 75 full-time and 418 part-time employees.

Deloitte’s Daniel Butters: “Unfortunately, as a consequence of cash flow problems, the decision was taken by the directors of Atmosphere Bars and Clubs to place the company into administration.  We are continuing to trade the business and all venues remain open whilst seeking a sale as a going concern.”

YORKSHIRE global insurance broker Bartlett & Company has been appointed by Pace as its global insurance and risk management consultant.

Pace is a leading technology developer for payTV and broadband service providers and has its head office in Saltaire, West Yorkshire.

Head of corporate risk at Bartlett, Mike Briggs, said: “I am delighted by this appointment, which recognises our experience and skill in arranging and managing complex insurance programmes for international businesses.”

Head of risk assurance at Pace, Damien Wilkinson, said: “We are looking forward to working with Bartlett as we take further steps to align our insurance arrangements to the requirements of Pace’s growing business.”
