Broder Metals Group adds Mexico to export list

INTERNATIONAL metals stockist Broder Metals Group has now added Mexico to the growing list of countries to which it exports.
The South Yorkshire-based company, which specialises in supplying to manufacturers in the fastener and fixing sector industry, now exports its alloys, steel and flanges to 40 different countries across the globe.
Managing director of Broder, Mark Burton, says the company’s export success is down to a number of factors.
He said: “Mexico is an exciting new market for us and we are really chuffed to be trading there.
“Exports currently make up about 40% of our turnover; it’s a key part of our business and one that we want to grow. Our success is built on the fact we put together packages of materials that can be delivered in one batch, which means the customer does not have to ring round 10 different suppliers and deal with all the relative paperwork and shipping costs; that’s cost-effective and saves our export clients money.”
Broder’s head of exports, Fiorella Di Giannatale says the company is currently in talks with a number of potential clients that could increase the country count even further.
“So far we have customers on six of the seven continents and if they start manufacturing fasteners in Antarctica we will no doubt go there,” she said.
“It’s hard to pin down the precise total number of different countries in the world but this year alone Broder Metals Group has despatched materials to approximately 15% of them and 20% since we started trading. Our plan for 2014 is for even more export growth in Africa, South America and Asia.”
Broder Metals Group supplies alloys, stainless steel, duplex, super duplex, flanges and fittings to fastener manufacturers supplying the marine, power generation, marine, oil, gas and automotive industries.
The company employs 22 at its head office in Sheffield.
Last year it doubled the size of its premises moving to a 19,000 sq ft premises in Ecclesfield after securing a loan from Finance Yorkshire.
