PwC appoints new Yorkshire and North East regional leader

PwC has appointed Ian Morrison as Yorkshire and North East regional leader.

He now leads the firm’s Yorkshire and North East business, which includes more than 1,000 partners and staff across its Leeds, Sheffield, Hull and Newcastle offices. He replaces Ian Green, who has taken up a national role as UK leader for business recovery services.

For the last five years Mr Morrison has led the firm’s assurance team across the North, which comprises 750 partners and staff in six offices. He has been with PwC since 1992 and has been a partner for the last eight years. He is originally from Leeds and went to school in Boston Spa before studying chemistry at Oxford University. He returned to Leeds after graduating and has spent over 20 years living and working in the Yorkshire region. He also spent two years on secondment with PwC in Melbourne, Australia.

Morrison said: “Having grown up and spent the majority of my career in the Yorkshire area, I have seen first-hand how the firm and the region have developed over this time. It is a particularly exciting point to be taking on this role. Whilst it remains challenging, I am very encouraged by a wide range of indicators that suggest the economy is improving in the region, and as a firm, we have seen growth across all our lines of service. I am keen to build on the work Ian Green has done as regional leader and believe we are well placed to continue broadening and deepening our relationships in the market.

“Yorkshire and the North East is an active and diverse market place. I aim to play a key role in leading our team as we continue to help our clients achieve their objectives, grow and support the wider economic recovery.”

Stephanie Hyde, executive board member and PwC’s head of UK regions, said: “Ian Green has done a great job as regional leader over the last 18 months. We see considerable growth opportunities in Yorkshire and the North East, and under Ian Morrison’s leadership the region will continue to be an area of focus and investment for the firm.”

Mr Morrison will work closely with office senior partners across the region, Arif Ahmad in Leeds, Bill MacLeod in Newcastle, Andy Ward in Sheffield and Richard Bunter in Hull.
