Piece of history for sale in property auction

A MEDIEVAL barn in East Yorkshire listed as a scheduled ancient monument is being offered for sale.
The Easington Tithe Barn is a grade II listed building is on offer with a guide price of £125,000 for a 1.5 acre site which includes other listed derelict buildings.
It is among 125 lots scheduled to come under the hammer in the Eddisons auction later this month that also includes the sale of the former Elslack water treatment works by Yorkshire Water with a guide price of £75,000.
The barn is next to a church in the village of Easington in East Riding and is built from bricks with a straw thatch roof.
Tony Webber, from Eddisons, said: “This is highly unusual property with strong historical significance, in an attractive location.”
Last month’s Eddisons sale saw 80% of property solds raising £6.1m.
The barn will be sold in the next sale at Elland Road, Leeds, on September 16.
