Country’s largest barrister’s chambers relocates in Sheffield

THE country’s largest barrister’s chambers, St John’s Buildings, is moving to new Sheffield premises.
The move follows a £470,000 redevelopment and fit-out of a 10,000 sq ft Grade II listed building on Leopold Street. The barrister’s chambers has converted the old banking hall and offices to create an office and conference space for clients, staff and barristers.
St John’s Buildings is the largest barrister’s chambers in England and wales, with more than 250 barristers and 70 support staff spread across five sites in Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, Chester and Preston.
Sally Harrison, the head of St John’s Buildings chambers, said: “This marks an exciting new phase for St John’s Buildings and emphasises our commitment to the Yorkshire, Humberside and Derbyshire legal services market.”
Chris Ronan, chief executive of St John’s Buildings, added: “This is our second major redevelopment in 12 months and is a testament to the success of St John’s Buildings. Our goal, was to deliver the best possible facilities to our clients, barristers and staff so as to ensure we help enhance Sheffield’s reputation for delivering expert legal advice and advocacy. I am delighted that this goal has been achieved.”
The move follows seven barristers joining St John’s Buildings from Sheffield’s Bank House chambers.
