In brief: Jet2 slogan; Gordons accolade; Hull on track to succeed
YORKSHIRE airline Jet2.com has unveiled a new slogan to reinforce its focus on customer service.
The airline which has six UK bases and flies to 45 destinations, mainly in Europe, has also introduced a number of “friendlier options” for passengers including a 30% increase in hold baggage and a customer loyalty programme.
Philip Meeson, boss of the airline which previously used the strapline ‘The North’s low cost airline’, said that Jet2.com fares would always remain low, but it wanted to build upon its reputation as the friendliest low fares airline.

YORKSHIRE law firm Gordons has become one of the UK’s top 100 legal practices for the first time, according to a survey carried out by leading industry publication The Lawyer.
The publication has ranked the firm as 98th following 13.5% growth in turnover to £21.2m for 2007/08.
The top 100 placing also marks the sixth successive year that the firm has recorded significant year-on-year increases in turnover and profits.
Originally based in Bradford, the law firm has established a strong foothold in Leeds since opening an office in the city in 2000.
The firm currently employs 300 people and boasts clients such as Morrisons, construction and high performance materials manufacturer Saint Gobain, international brewers Coors and the world’s largest electrical heating business Glen Dimplex.
Gordons managing partner, Paul Ayre, said: “This is a big milestone in the firm’s history. Our success in recent years has come from providing clients with high levels of service and adding new skills and strengths to the practice whilst maintaining the personal touch.
“We are sure this approach will allow us to maintain our momentum and enhance our reputation as a genuine alternative to the region’s big six law firms.”

HULL is set to become one of Yorkshire’s top commercial centres, according to a new report.
The study, by Leeds property agent Drivers Jonas LLP, said the city was forecast to overtake Harrogate, Huddersfield and Wakefield in terms of commercial importance in the next five years.
Drivers Jonas’s survey is based on responses by 100 Leeds business leaders who were asked to rate other key cities across the region.
Currently, Hull is regarded as the least commercially important city in Yorkshire, but, according to the survey, the situation is set to change.
It said Hull’s regeneration would continue attracting top companies to the city.
