National names sign up to retail development

A STRING of national names have been secured for a West Yorkshire retail development.

Acting on behalf of Morrison’s, Leeds-based WSB Property Consultants has  secured a number of national occupiers including Cooplands, Banardos and The Original Factory Shop at Commercial Street and Jail Yard Parade, Rothwell, which form part of a retail development completed in July. The development is anchored by a 75,000 sq ft Morrison superstore.

The Original Factory Shop has taken 9,935 sq ft on Commercial Street and Banardos has taken 2,850 sq ft, which forms the final phase of the 117,450 sq ft development. Meanwhile, sandwich chain Cooplands has taken 1,522 sq ft on Jail Yard Parade, which is the existing parade developed in 2008.

Adam Mobley, partner at WSB, said: “Rothwell is a very strong and affluent suburb which serves a wide catchment and therefore has a very vibrant and successful high street. This is evidenced by the fact that there has been very little churn of retail space in the centre with a low number of retail voids and few tenants moving out of the area.

“This final phase of the development by Morrison’s has further enhanced the existing facilities and retail offer for the local area providing 25,329 sqft of retail and leisure space.”

WSB Property Consultants acted for Morrisons while Banardo’s and The Original Factory acted for themselves and Carter Towler represented Cooplands.
