FTSE tipped to open higher

HEADLINE shares are tipped to open 10 to 14 points higher today, according to financial websites, taking a positive lead from a strong performance on Wall Street overnight, with Lloyds a focus as its CEO departs.

In the US last night, the Dow climbed 146 points at 10,754, the Nasdaq Composite rose 40 points at 2,356 and the S&P500 added 17 points at 1,143.
In Asia today, the Nikkei was last down 40 points at 9,586, while the Hang Seng ended the morning up 27 points at 22,004.
Crude oil traded at $74.42 a barrel on Nymex.
Gold settled at $1,279 an ounce.
LONDON MARKETS
Public Sector New Borrowing figures will be published at 9:30am.
In the corporate diary for the day, interim results are due from Carnival, Dealogic, Dolphin Capital Investors, JD Sports Fashion, Morson Group, Roxi Petroleum and Velosi.
Final results are scheduled from Minerva and Wilmington Group.
A trading statement is expected from Dolphin Capital Investors.
British Smaller Companies VCT, CSF Group, F&C Managed Portfolio Trust Income Shares, Investcorp Bank, Park Group, Stewart & Wight and Trifast host their AGMs.
