Chubb made new Grontmij MD

ENGINEERING and environmental consultants Grontmij have appointed a new managing director for their UK and Ireland business.

John Chubb will join Grontmij, which has its UK headquarters in Leeds, from VT Group where he held a range of positions in the environment, nuclear and communications sectors.

He will replace Lawrence Hughes who will retain his role as chairman of the UK and Ireland board and expand his international group director role to a full-time position.

Sylvo Thijsen, Grontmij chief executive, said: “John’s appointment signals a new era in Grontmij’s UK development.

“As market conditions stabilise in the UK, we are again in a position where we are looking to grow in the coming years, especially with our significant framework wins in the water industry.

“John is the right person to oversee this next phase in the company’s growth.”

Mr Chubb’s last role with VT Group was as managing director of the firm’s environment division and his career includes roles with British Telecom and the Royal Navy.
