Leeds factory helps promote green printing

THE Leeds-based factory of laminators Celloglas has helped boost the shift towards green printing following completion of a project for HSBC.
The site worked with fellow Yorkshire print firm Polestar to produce an eco-friendly mail campaign used to promote the bank’s push for paperless banking.
Instead of using traditional products, Celloglas was asked to use Cellogreen – an environmentally friendly laminate that still gives a high quality professional finish.
Richard Pinkney, Celloglas’s operations director at the Leeds plant, said that lamination was not an area generally considered as green but things were changing.
“Cellogreen offers firms the ability to produce high quality printed materials while meeting environmental policies or initiatives,” he said.
“We’re hoping that by completing such a high profile job that there will be a cascade effect and that more printers and clients will realise that there is a green alternative.”
Mr Pinkney said that demand for Cellogreen was growing and that Celloglas was the UK’s largest distributor of the eco-friendly laminate.
Andrew Cooper from HSBC said: “We wanted to maintain a quality matte laminated finish whilst ensuring our green credentials. The finish [with Cellogreen] was as expected and there was no noticeable difference between this product and normal laminates.”
