RICS chairman comes to region

ROBERT Peto, the president of RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) is to visit Yorkshire tomorrow to discover first hand from the region’s property  professionals about the issues facing them.

Mr Peto will meet RICS members working with both large and small companies to assess the impact that the recession is having on the industry and to discuss the changing political and economic landscape.

His one-day visit to Leeds also includes a private meeting with Tom Riordan, the recently appointed chief executive of Leeds City Council and former head of regional development agency Yorkshire Forward.

RICS regional board chairman Colin Harrop, a senior associate at King Sturge in Leeds, said: “This is a great opportunity for chartered surveyors to meet the president and explain to him the challenges we face in the region.

“It’s been a tough few years for anyone involved in the property sector but there are high hopes that Leeds city region can lead us out of the current doldrums.”

Mr Peto, who became RICS president in July, is vice chairman, capital markets, at DTZ. He is also a member of the Bank of England property advisory group and the IPD Index Consultative Committee.
