Appointments: New MD for Bramall; Ellis Bates hires HR manager; and more

AFFORDABLE housing and regeneration specialist Bramall Construction has appointed a new managing director.

John Walsh joins the Rotherham-based company to help build its growing reputation for the new build and refurbishment of affordable housing in the East of England, London and the Home Counties.

He will work alongside Neil Baxter, who will continue in his role as managing director for the company’s schemes in Yorkshire, the Humber and the East Midlands.

Mr Walsh has a diploma in construction process management and more than 25 years experience in the affordable housing sector.

He is an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Building and worked at Breyer Construction as divisional director before joining Bramall Construction, part of the Keepmoat Group.

Jo Nickell-Lean Ellis BatesTHE Harrogate office of financial advisory and insurance firm Ellis Bates has hired Jo Nickell-Lean as its new HR manager.

Ms Nickell-Lean, a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, previously worked at Ellis Bates before moving to Broker Network for 17 years where she was HR associate.

She will be working alongside senior management, reporting to chief executive David Hughes.

Penny Darragh Dickinson DeesLAW firm Dickinson Dees has strengthened its employment law team in York with the appointment of Penny Darragh.

Ms Darragh, who studied English and Philosophy at York University before converting to law at York College of Law, joins Dickinson Dees from Thompsons solicitors in Leeds.

She trained at Wake Smith in Sheffield, before moving to Rowley Ashworth in Leeds to specialise in employment law. Rowley Ashworth subsequently became part of Thompsons, where she worked in the employment rights unit.
