Appointments: Gordons; Newtons; YPO; Bizspace

LAW firm Gordons has strengthened its leadership team by promoting former city commercial property solicitor Ben Lamb to partner.

Mr Lamb has experience in all aspects of commercial property law and a broad client base, including private and corporate investors, retailers and commercial occupiers.

He initially spent almost three years at Allen & Overy, where he completed his training contract. Mr Lamb then joined city firm Field Fisher Waterhouse where he worked for six-and-a-half years, operating as a senior solicitor in the real estate department.

His clients at Gordons include Saudi Arabian Airlines Corporation, investors and developers ATC Properties and Eshton Properties, plus retailers Morrisons, Bosideng and Greenwoods Menswear.

Mr Lamb’s significant work at the firm has included advising Saudi Arabian Airlines corporation on a disposal programme at its London headquarters in Victoria. He is also acting for Leeds-based Shawbrook Developments on the development and disposal strategy for the 70-acre Burnley Bridge Business Park.

Mr Lamb is a University of Leeds graduate. He joined Gordons in 2010.

CONVEYANCING lawyer Katie Baxter has joined the Ilkley office of Newtons Solicitors.

Ms Baxter, who joins Newtons from a local firm of solicitors, handles both residential and commercial property conveyancing and takes the team at Newtons Ilkley office to four.

Newtons’ Ilkley office is led by former Marks & Spencer lawyer and wills and probate specialist Victoria Trelease.

YPO, the publicly owned buying organisation, has boosted its team in Wakefield with the appointment of a new head of sales and marketing.

Diane Webster has 25 years’ experience in sales and marketing having previously worked as marketing director at Beacon Purchasing in York.

She said: “YPO has an excellent reputation as a leading public sector buying organisation, offering great value and service to its customers. I am delighted to join the team at what is a very exciting time for the organisation, as it embarks on a new three-year strategy. I look forward to working with the team to drive the new strategy forward and supporting continued business growth.”

BIZSPACE, the flexible business accommodation provider, has appointed two new business centre managers within Yorkshire.

Rebecca Rainford will be responsible for Bizspace’s Bradmarsh Business Centre in Rotherham, while 34-year-old Tom Harrowell will manage the firm’s Calderdale Business Park in Halifax and Dudley Hill in Bradford.

Bizspace’s sales manager for the Yorkshire region, Steve Moody, said: “Rebecca and Tom are both hugely enthusiastic and brimming with ideas for their respective sites. It will be fantastic for these business centres to have consistent and focused managers, working to promote the interests of customers.”
