Appointments: Yorkshire Dales Meat Company; Neaco; LCF Law

THE Yorkshire Dales Meat Company, one of the North’s leading catering butchers, has appointed James Knox as its managing director.

He succeeds his father, Stephen Knox, who founded the business in 2004.

In the decade since launch, Yorkshire Dales Meat Company has gone from selling meat at farmers’ markets to supplying supermarkets and some of the best restaurants and hotels in the North of England.

James Knox studied Business Studies at Lancaster University before learning the trade working for a meat and seafood importer and exporter. He joined Yorkshire Dales Meat Company as Factory Manager in 2007 before progressing into the financial director role in 2012.

Stephen Knox said: “We were all very keen that James didn’t just stride out of school and into Yorkshire Dales Meat Company at a senior level, as it wouldn’t have been right for him or the business.

“Instead, he went away to study and grafted hard elsewhere before coming here to learn the ropes and earn his stripes.

“He’s really thrived as a manager and developed a fantastic understanding of this business and its markets. He’s got lots of new ideas and ways of doing things, and the time is right for me to step aside and for him to take over.”

MALTON-based building products manufacturer neaco has promoted Peter Melia to UK business development manager, overseeing the company’s nationwide sales and marketing operation.

Mr Melia joined neaco in 2012 as business development executive and the promotion reflects his success in driving sales of the company’s balustrade, balconies, aluminium grilles and adaptive bathing products with significant growth in various construction sectors, including residential, leisure, industrial, commercial, public and healthcare.

neaco’s managing director, Alan Green, said: “Since joining neaco Peter has been a major asset to our sales force and his promotion is richly deserved. Peter has an in-depth understanding of the design and specification process, the dynamics of the construction market and the specific needs of architects and contractors. He will be passing this experience on to our team of regional business development managers.”
