Everyman Cinema confirmed for leisure complex creating 250 jobs

A FORMER department store in Harrogate is being demolished to make way for a new Everyman cinema, it has been confirmed.

TheBusinessDesk.com previously reported that the £10m development was going ahead and now demolition has begun and tenants are being announced.

New restaurants in the development include Côte, a French brasserie, burger restaurant Byron, which also opened last year in Leeds, Yo Sushi, and Cau, a new offering from the Gaucho group.

The Station Parade site closed in September and Harrogate Borough Council approved plans for its demolition earlier this year.

4Urban Consulting Ltd, which bought the building in 2009, said the development could create up to 250 jobs.

The new project, which is yet to be approved, could “add considerably to the overall attraction of Harrogate”, the company said.

The 1950s building is to be replaced with one “in sympathy” with the Victorian architecture of the town centre and the Victorian buildings on Albert Street that make up part of the site are to be retained.
