Broadband contract "to boost speeds and network efficiency" in Hull

A £500,000 partnership to “significantly boost internet speed” in Hull has been agreed between CityFibre and wireless broadband ISP Purebroadband.

CityFibre, which designs builds and owns fibre optic infrastructure, will replace Purebroadband’s existing wireless solution connecting 12 hub sites in a ring round the city. This will result in increased capacity, enabling Purebroadband to grow its customer base, and provide faster speeds and more robust service to its users.

The latest agreement will allow CityFibre to continue the development of its Hull fibre network project, which includes a 62km fibre rollout that was begun late last year.

“We are seeing increasing interest from service providers to accessing businesses and consumers in Hull,” said John Pulley, CityFibre’s head of city sales. “CityFibre now provides a long overdue and credible infrastructure alternative in the local market, increasing competition and driving better services for all customers.”

Purebroadband, a Hull-based internet service provider, expects the deal will provide the capacity to enable it to target Hull’s 200,000 business and residential internet users.

Joe Tandey, operations director at Purebroadband, added: “By upgrading our backbone with dark fibre from CityFibre, we will be able to offer an even better broadband service to our existing customers as well as accelerating our customer acquisition programme in Hull.”
