Holiday park sale "represents excellent initial yield"

BILFINGER GVA’S team in Leeds has advised on the sale of a North Wales holiday park for an undisclosed sum.

Aberconwy Resort and Spa has been bought by Darwin West Country (Guernsey) from co-founders Ken and Linda Houghton for an undisclosed sum and it will become part of the Darwin Escapes collection of holiday resorts and retreats.

The holiday park, which is close to Conwy and next to a beach, has 292 holiday pitches and includes a range of on-site facilities.

Peter Smith, a sirector in the Retail, Hotels and Leisure team at Bilfinger GVA, said: “Aberconwy Resort and Spa has been long-established as a flagship holiday park on the North Wales coast, offering exceptional quality of holiday home and lodge development alongside renowned restaurant and spa facilities.  

“We are delighted that Darwin has decided to invest in the future growth of Aberconwy and to bring it into its portfolio. The deal represents an excellent 10% initial yield and market-leading value per pitch, reflecting a strong historic trading performance and good prospects for growth whilst also giving further confidence to the market going forward.”

Ken Houghton and Linda Houghton, who have owned Aberconwy for 22 years, said it has been “a real privilege” to have created the resort and would remain “something we will always be immensely proud of”.”
