Retail scheme gets green light to create 50 jobs

A MULTI-MILLION pound scheme for a discount supermarket and restaurant at Bradford regeneration scheme New Bolton Woods is about to create 50 jobs.

Developers are in talks with Aldi to create the 18,000 sq ft food store, a 150-space car park, a smaller store and a drive-through restaurant, set to create more than 50 jobs in the area.

The site will cost around £6m, and was designed by architecture firm The Harris Partnership.

Work is expected to commence later this year for completion in Autumn 2016.

The New Bolton Woods regeneration area covers 30 hectares, and will cost a total of £150m.

It is being delivered by Canal Road Urban Village Ltd, a partnership between developers Urbo Regeneration and Bradford Metropolitan District Council.

Peter Swallow a director of Urbo and Canal Road Urban Village Ltd, said: “This is a very significant step forward in the regeneration of New Bolton Woods.”

Phase one of the New Bolton Woods development began last year when Urbo and partner Skipton Properties created 50 new homes.
