Former Shepherd finance director joins NG Bailey

ILKLEY-BASED engineering and facilities firm NG Bailey has appointed a chief financial officer from Shepherd.

Mike Porter, former finance director for Shepherd Building Group’s Built Environment division has joined the firm as its CFO.

He will work with chief executive David Hurcomb and seven other colleagues on the group’s executive board.

During his six-year tenure at Shepherd, Mr Porter led the finance, ICT, business assurance and operational hire centre functions.

Prior to joining Shepherd he held senior positions for companies including United Utilities plc and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Mr Porter commented: “NG Bailey is a ‘best in class’ business, with an excellent reputation in the fields in which it operates.

“I am joining the business at a time when it is well positioned for growth and I look forward to helping create tangible and measurable improvements that will build on NG Bailey’s already very strong market leading position.”

David Hurcomb, NG Bailey’s chief executive added: “As we move firmly back into growth mode the role of our CFO is of paramount importance.
“Mike brings with him a wealth of expertise and I have no doubt he will be an asset both to the executive team and the rest of the business.”

Mike holds an honours degree from Imperial College at the University of London, an MBA from Manchester Business School and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
