Verdict on Leeds United employee tribunal case

A LEEDS tribunal panel has found in favour of former Leeds United employee Lucy Ward, who had brought an unfair dismissal case against the club.
Ms Ward won her claim, following allegations that the club had removed her from her position due to her ongoing relationship with former head coach Neil Redfearn.
She had been at the club for 17 years before she was handed her notice in July 2015.
Employment judge Stephen Keevash reportedly said: “We conclude that this dismissal was unfair and that there was a gross unreasonable breach of the ACAS code of conduct.
“We find it extraordinary that this respondent (Leeds United) had no awareness of the ACAS code or what it contained and that it failed to comply with what are regarded as basic principles.”
