Second phase of business park completes

THE second phase of a major regeneration of the historic 13-acre Park Valley Mills site in Huddersfield has been completed and is now fully let.
The flagship site, which is owned by Holmfirth Dyers, has been transformed into a business park, featuring 18 industrial units with office and storage space.
Park Valley Mills had previously been derelict for many years, with buildings falling into disrepair. The revamped site off Meltham Road in Lockwood has created 75 jobs.
Two new lettings now mean that phase two is fully occupied.
King Scientific, an independent family-owned laboratory supply company, has taken 3,000 sq ft of industrial and warehouse space in Unit 8.
Director Steve King said: “During the last 18-24 months the company has seen increased opportunities and capitalised on these. The resulting increase in business saw us outgrow old premises in Liversedge and quickly need to increase our warehouse space now and to have further capacity for the future.
“That is why Park Valley Mills is perfect for our needs. It gives us a platform to continue to grow our business and also to better serve our customers with increased stock keeping. The site is well-managed, provides reasonable rents and is ideally situated for all major road networks.”
Meanwhile Computerway Business Solutions has taken 2,000 sq ft of office and warehouse space in Unit 9.
The expanding company designs, builds, installs, commissions and supports a range of products, primarily for food processing industry. Its products consist of computer/electronic hardware, software and peripheral equipment which provide customers with process control, operational efficiency and data acquisition.
Managing director Paul Sykes said: “Due to the rapid expansion in our overseas trade, our existing premises in Denby Dale proved too small to sustain current and future levels of business. There was no way to expand the premises at Denby Dale, so the decision was taken to seek more suitable premises.
“We viewed several premises in and around Huddersfield area and Park Valley Mills quickly became our preferred option.”
Mike Haigh, partner with Leeds property consultancy Dove Haigh Phillips, added: “This is a superb development for Huddersfield, which is already creating jobs and regenerating the area.”
