Developer plans to convert North Yorkshire mill into apartments

PLANS to convert an old mill into apartments, with housing and industrial units to be built on the site, have been submitted for approval.
Skipton- based property developer Candelisa has submitted the planning application to Craven District Council for the mixed use development of Station Works in Cononley.
The planning application proposes the conversion and extension of the Station Works Mill to create apartments, and the building of 15,500 sq ft of industrial units along with new houses to the rear of the mill. A mix of house sizes, including market and affordable housing, will be provided on the site.

The site is identified for redevelopment in the both the draft Craven District Council Local Plan and the draft Cononley Neighbourhood Plan.
The application has been submitted following a pre-application enquiry to Craven District Council in 2015 and a public information evening in the village in April of this year.
Guy Taylor, managing director of Candelisa, said: “We are excited to submit our planning application for this major brownfield site. Everyone who attended the public information event in Cononley agreed that this site would benefit from redevelopment.
“However, we have listened to the comments received and made changes as appropriate, including a reduction in the number of residential units, before submitting the application. The design of the mill extension has also been changed so that it includes more stone.”
Separately Candelisa has announced that the consultation period for its proposed conversion of Firth Mill in Skipton town centre into 35 apartments has ended and final plans are now with the Council.
The firm also says that Cragdale Lodge, the converted former Settle police station and courthouse, has been fully sold off-plan.
