What’s on in Yorkshire this weekend

1. Dumper Racing at Diggerland Yorkshire
Date: From 8am-6pm Saturday 2nd July
Location: Diggerland, Castleford
If you’re feeling adventurous this weekend, why not go dumper truck racing this weekend in Diggerland’s specially adapted dumper trucks? Either race against the clock or other entrants. Everyone is welcome as long as they have can drive and are over 17!

2. Jazz & Blues festival
Date: Saturday 2nd – Sunday 3rd July
Location: Burton Agnes Hall, Bridlington
This event has been described by the Independent as “possibly the most enjoyable jazz concert I’ve ever attended.” Surrounded by the Yorkshire Wolds, the festival is set in the award winning grounds of Bridlington’s Elizabethan stately home. There is set to be twenty-five performances over the weekend with a bar tent open until late each evening.

3. Heartbeat Vehicle Rally
Date: 10:30am Saturday 2nd – Sunday 3rd July
Location: Centre of Goathland
If you’re a fan of the hit ITV drama, Heartbeat and classical cars, then this annual event is for you. Come and take a look at some of the classic vehicles used in the show. Actor David Lonsdale who played David Stockwell in the drama for 13 years is rumoured to be attending on the Sunday.

4. Music in the Gardens
Date: Thursday 30th June – Sunday 3rd July
Location: Botanical Gardens, Sheffield
The 11th annual music in the gardens festival is all set for this weekend, taking place in the beautiful setting of Sheffield’s Botanical Gardens with performances from UB40, Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra and The Feeling. There will be hot food stalls, picnic opportunities and a spectacular fireworks display on the last evening.

5. Windsurfing Championships
Date: From 8:30am Saturday 2nd – Sunday 3rd July
Location: Alexandra Promenade, North Beach Bridlington
For over two decades, Bridlington has hosted the UK’s hugely popular windsurfing championships. The event always attracts hundreds of spectators to Bridlington’s sandy coastline. There are various shops, pubs, restaurants and guest houses nearby. If you are interested in competing in the races, registration will be taking place at 8:30am.
