Work heats up for Morrisons HQ staff as they move in store

MORRISONS has brought in some interesting in-store support in anticipation of this week’s heatwave.

1,000 of the supermarket’s head office staff including lawyers, board-level directors, buyers, property managers, marketers and IT specialists have been brought in to help out in store.

The staff have been on the floor on Sunday and today as the grocer expects demand for cold drinks, salad and sun cream to rise.

During a hot weather week, Morrisons expects to sell 7 million sausages and 42,000 packs of burger buns, with sales of ice lollies up 250% and ice cream up 75%.

The head office team will add an extra 8,000 hours of service to stores so in store colleagues can focus on Morrisons focus areas, such as made-in-store foods like bread and burgers.

Morrisons people director Clare Grainger said: “Customers will want to picnic and party in this very welcome spell of hot weather so we need our Head Office team to help serve them and support our in-store staff.”
