University Centre launched in Leeds

A UNIVERSITY centre has been launched by Leeds City College.

Housed at the former College House on Park Lane, its first intake of higher education students have already started their courses.

The College is looking to increase its degree-level provisions and the University Centre has been designed to accommodate HE-level courses which can fit around work and other commitments.

Further education establishment Leeds City College, says that the newly-refurbished building separates the higher education students from the main body of college students.

A ribbon cutting ceremony took place in the presence of the West Yorkshire Lieutenancy’s Major Stan Hardy, the college’s principal Colin Booth OBE and the University Centre’s Dean of Higher Education, Janet Faulkner.

Janet Faulkner said: “After months of planning and construction work, we’re thrilled to see the finished product and formally open its doors to the students.

“The University Centre will provide excellent tutor support, generous bursary schemes and lower tuition fees. Strong partnerships with employers and extensive work experience opportunities will also be available.”
